IHU Molecular Ecology/Molecular Biology Lab

As part of the MSc in Bioeconomy: Biotechnology and Law and the MSc in Sustainable Agriculture and Business, the International Hellenic University has developed and operates the Molecular Ecology/Molecular Biology Lab in the IHU premises.

The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art, modern equipment for advanced research on the fields of molecular biology, molecular ecology, environmental microbiology, microbial taxonomy and functional diversity, metagenomics, metatranscriptomics and nucleic acids research.

Also, the laboratory will be used for educational purposes for the students of the MSc in Bioeconomy: Biotechnology and Law and the MSc in Sustainable Agriculture and Business , and related educational programmes, for work done in the context of research-based master theses and Ph.D. theses, and for national and international research collaborations.

It includes, among other equipment, PCR cycler, centrifuges, electrophoresis apparatus, pH-meter, orbital shaker, microplate reader, spectrophotometer, water-bath, autoclave, and a biosafety level 2 cabinet.
