International Hellenic University (IHU)

The International Hellenic University (IHU) was founded in October 2005 and is based in Thessaloniki. It is located on a campus of 16,000 m², specially designed to facilitate modern learning methods.

International Hellenic University (IHU) is the first public university in Greece where the curricula are taught exclusively in English. The main aims of operation of the University are academic excellence in teaching and research, and extroversion. It implements international standards in the evaluation of teaching, research and its current functioning and attracts leading academics and students from Europe and around the world.

It is worth mentioning that in the external evaluation of all Hellenic Academic Institutes (22 Universities and 14 ATEI) conducted by the Quality Assurance and Certification Authority in Higher Education (ADIP) between October 2015 and July 2016, the International University of Greece was one of the only 9 foundations in the country to be evaluated as “worthy of a positive mention”.

The University specializes in offering postgraduate programmes aimed at international students who are interested in studying in Greece but also at Greek students seeking an international outlook. The language of both instruction and administration for all of its programmes is English. As a state university, all degrees awarded are accredited by the Government and are recognized in the European Union and internationally. The University already attracts a strong international academic faculty and outstanding students from countries as diverse as Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cameroon, FYROM, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Mexico, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Sudan, Turkey, Ukraine and the USA.

With backing from the Greek State, educationalists and businesses around the region, the IHU aims to develop as one of Europe’s foremost research institutions and is focused on attracting leading academics and outstanding students from Europe and across the world.
