Dr. Savvas Genitsaris (Male) is a Biologist with an MSc in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation from Imperial College, London (2006), and a Ph.D. in Microbial Ecology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2011). His main research focus is the investigation of molecular and functional diversity of microbes from various environments, e.g. marine, freshwater, air, wastewaters focusing on metagenomics high-throughput technologies. He was (2013-2015) a postdoctoral scholar of the Université du Littoral Cote d’ Opale (ULCO), France and is currently a postdoctoral scholar of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and an Academic Associate at the International Hellenic University. He has 30 papers published in peer-reviewed journals of the SCI. He has, also, participated in several EU and Greek research projects regarding coastal plankton diversity.
